The Percheron hails from the area of La Perche in southern Normandy. It is one of the oldest draft breeds, with a history tracing at least to the early Middle Ages. “Lyn,” a breeding stallion at 17.3 hands and 1,900 pounds, displays a longer, finer neck than his near ancestors, but shares the distinctive grey coat coloring, the minimal feathering of the lower legs, and an easy disposition. His get are sought after as members of six and eight-horse show hitches as well as for breeding programs across the U.S.
