It is one of the oldest draft breeds, with a history tracing at least to the early Middle Ages. “Lyn,” a breeding stallion at 17.3 hands and 1,900 pounds, displays a longer, finer neck than his near ancestors, but shares the distinctive grey coat coloring, the minimal feathering of the lower legs, and an easy disposition.
