NO MORE COLD BITS! Apply a warm Bitten to your bridle when you get to the barn and by the time you're ready to tack up, you'll have a warm bit for your horse's mouth. Then slip the Bitten into your pocket or hang it around your neck with the enclosed lanyard and stay toasty during your ride.
Each Bitten package comes with two disposable heat packs, 2 resealable ziplock bags, a lanyard for using the bitten as a body warmer and complete instructions.
Bitten reusable heat pack sold separately, below.

 | | | Disposable Heat Pack
 Use as Bit Warmer:
Remove the disposable heat pack from the airtight bag, knead until you feel heat and then insert into one of the inner pockets of the Bitten and wrap around the bit. After you finish saddling your horse, remove the Bitten and your bit will be nice and warm, and ready to insert into your horse’s mouth. One heat pack should be plenty, but for additional heat add a second heat pack to your Bitten.
Note: The disposable heating packs take a little longer to heat up (but they will keep you warm for the entire ride). Bring some extra heat packs with you for emergencies and friends on your rides.
Use as Hand & Body Warmer:
The Bitten can now be converted into the hand and body warmer. To do this, just “reverse fold” the Bitten so that the disposable heat packets are facing outward. It will be nice and toasty to warm your hands back up after saddling your horse. Toss it in your pocket for the rest of the ride. You can also remove the disposable heat packets from the Bitten and insert them into your gloves.
If you attach the lanyard (located in the small inside zipper pocket of the Bitten), put around your neck and slip it under your coat as a body warmer. On the coldest day you will be snuggy warm with the Bitten under your coat.
The Bitten also makes a great hand and body warmer for other outside events. Take it to football games, hockey games, skiing, skating, hiking, etc. and stay toasty warm.
Once you are finished with the disposable heat packet, you can either throw it away, or better yet; it can be recycled by pouring the natural contents (iron powder, salt, activated carbon, and vermiculite) onto the ground and putting the fabric packet into a recycling bin.

| | | | | Reuable Heat Pack
The reusable heat pack is one of the two heat pack options we offer for the BITTEN. It allows you to reuse the heat pack multiple times without the expense of purchasing additional heat packs.
The heat pack contains a non-toxic space age sodium acetate solution that is in a vinyl pouch. The heat pack is activated by clicking a small internal metal disc. The pack quickly warms and lasts for approximately 30 minutes. It can be recharged by boiling it in water.
Using them in the Bitten:
Keep your reusable heat packs in the house or warm area. Toss one in your pocket before going out to prepare your horse for riding. Insert one of the heat packs into one of Bitten’s inner pockets. Click the disc in the heat pack, knead the pack until it starts to warm and wrap the Bitten around the bit. Two packs can be used in the Bitten to generate more heat on extra cold days.
After you finish saddling your horse, remove the bit from the BITTEN - it will be nice and warm, and ready to insert into your horse’s mouth.
Be sure to save the pack so you can recharge it for next time (see the instructions listed below).
Recharging Instructions:
To re-liquefy, boil in water for 10 minutes or until it is totally clear liquid. Pack must be completely cooled prior to reactivating (you can run cold water over the pack for quicker cooling).
You can boil several packs at one time so that you always have a pack ready to go. Once you have recharged the heat packs they will stay charged until the disc is clicked.
Note – For best results, they should be stored at room temperature in order to receive full heating capacity. Keeping it in your coat pocket until you use it is a great way to make sure that it generates the maximum amount of heat.
